Kansas City Real Estate Investing

sponsored by Mid-America Association of Real Estate Investors

Dear Realty ,

We just spent a hard working weekend at the National REIA Mid - Year Conference gaining a ton of new ideas to bring back to MAREI for you.

We at MAREI are working on a Professional Housing Provider Program utilizing all the sources below. Wach for more information later this summer on the PHP designation program.
Training for our members was the last big topic.

We were able to see how other groups bring training to our members.

We broke training into several major categories.

Speakers at our Meetings where we bring in a local speaker or a national trainier for 60 to 90 minutes to share with pertinent information. The downfall here is that most of these speakers are going to be mostly focused on our newer investors.

Workshops that offer hands on training that has a set structure of classes. Watch future newsletters for the Professional Housing Provider Program. MAREI will be rolling this out this fall and we hope to utlize local and national speakers, our industry partners, national REIA programs, and outside sources such as KCRAR or Career Education Systems.

This PHP program will help train our local industry providers and help establish credibility for the real estate investor if and when legislative problems arise. If you are a more experiences investor, this is a great way for you to get involved in training the new guys and possibly finding partners to bring you deals.

------------------------------

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly . . . We are also very selective of who we allow speak to our group. Through the biggest session at the National REIA conference, we get to talk to 100's of other REIA groups to find out which national speakers are good, which are bad, and which ones are just plain ugly in the way they deal with our members. If they don't pass muster at the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, or are not recommended to us by several other groups, they will not be speaking at a MAREI event.

-----------------

Our last part of the training discusson was focus or subgroups. We have attempted these in the past and would like to attemt them again.

Part of our plan is to revamp the meeting times a bit to include a short focus group from 6:00 to 6:30 with in the meeting room itself. One focus group we will be start then is the new member orientation where we go through all the benefits of MAREI. We would like to also offer a few other subgroups at these time as well as a few on other evenings or week ends.

Secondly we would like to find a 2nd meeting time for the more advanced investors to meet and discuss topics on a more advanced level. We need ideas for topics, meeting places, and how requirements to get in the advanced groups. We won't spend time explaining what private lending or subject to is, but actually disccusing topics that the more advanced investor would be interested in.
